Helping refugees and asylum seekers learn English
So through university I’ve got involved with this project which is run by STAR (STudent Action for Refugees), they run English conversation classes to try and help the refugees and asylum seekers improve their English. As far as I’m aware it’s completely free, all the students volunteer and we all get a free hot meal :) I went along for the first time today and in sha Allah...
Anonymous asked: Salaam Sister, I just came across your Tumblr and Mash'Allah! I just find it reverts amazing because they do it because they actually believe in Allah properly and everything.(I say this as I am a Muslim from a Muslim family who should be a better Muslim, pray 5 times a day etc Insha'Allah) May Allah help us through this test of life. Your amazing dude. Salaam x
Anonymous asked: Assalamu alaykum. Lol. My bad, for real though, i'm kinda confused. I Pray it is an Eman boosting experience for you. And you meet many friends for life inshallah.
W alaikum asalam, No you are wrong, that isn’t the city I live in.
That awkward moment...
When someone from school who you were best friends with at about 13, who doesn’t know you became Muslim, turns out to be in the same seminar class as you at university and you’re there in hijab and abaya like “hey :$” Right imagine the chances of that happening, over 250 students of French and me and her just so happen to be put in the same seminar group of around 10...
Parents: Why don't you come downstairs and socialize with the entire family?
Me: *goes downstairs*
Me: *gets insulted by entire family*
Me: *goes back upstairs*
Rambles around my new city
Yesterday me and one of my flatmates decided to walk in the direction of the mosque, (which is only 10 minutes walk away, amazing!) because we knew there would be businesses owned by Muslims nearby to it. We basically just found food shops but they were amazing! Shops with rows and rows of imported Arab food, all the cans had Arabic writing, ingredients that you can’t normally buy here,...

Amusement in Misguidance:
salamseeker: If you find amusement, delight, or entertainment in another human beings misguidance- whether they are Muslim or non Muslim- you’re doing Islam wrong. Too many of us here find the hypocrisy we witness amusing. Too many of us find pleasure in pointing out flaws in others with no intention of giving naseeha or correction. Too many of us find pleasure in the simple act of “calling...
Living with Muslims
Al7amdolellah, Allah has really blessed me with some wonderful flatmates mashAllah, I am living with four sisters, it is just wow! As a revert I have never lived with Muslims before, it has always been me as the only one in the house practising, it makes such a difference to be living with Muslims, seriously! We keep having deep conversations, about death, about day of judgement all these...
I just wanted to say, if I have ever written or said anything that has offended or hurt any of you then I please ask that you forgive me from the bottom of your hearts, never has any offence been intentional. I haven’t had a complaint, I just wanted to put this statement out there.
Anonymous asked: asalamu alaikum i noticed you have just started uni just as i have. i have moved into halls and made clear that i wanted to live with only females as i am going to be taking my shahada soon inshallah. my three flatmates are nice but they want to go out clubbing and even after i told one of them i was a Muslimah (easier to explain than saying im reverting) she just said i was lame and couldnt...
Anonymous asked: Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah. Which university do you go to? From my understanding very few universities teach Arabic as a single honours course. Arabic is mostly taught as a combined honours degree with another language or business.
Anonymous asked: Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah. Are you studying politics or business alongside French and Arabic? I mean like a combined honours foreign languages degree with politics or business?

I’m at uni, my parents left about an hour ago and now I’m all alone for the first time!
In sha Allah I’m off to university tomorrow morning leaving my home and family 250 miles behind. My feelings are mixed, my eyes keep welling up, my family are here so I’m trying not to let the tears flow. Time for a new chapter in my life.

zaytouneh: I don’t think people realize how wrong it is to create a divide between white people and Islam. You know, some white people are Muslims. It sounds ridiculous to even say because of how obvious it is. Also, some white people are even “culturally” Muslim (for arguments sake, you know, “white…
The medicine I was given is having absolutely no effect, in sha Allah gunna go back to the doctor tomorrow. I really hope I’ll be well enough to go to uni on Saturday, otherwise I’ll have to wait another week and will miss the start of my course :$
I won’t have a tv at university because I don’t feel like paying £150 for a tv licence, so in sha Allah that’ll be one less distraction.

bengalicowssayhumbaa: If I see Muslims on my dash apologizing for 9/11 I will cringe so hard and just leave tumblr because we have nothing to apologize for. Yes, it was a tragedy. So were a billion other things. And it has absolutely nothing to do with me. I will not apologize for…
Been to the doctor and been diagnosed with labrinthitis, I’m not 100% that it’s the right diagnosis but the doctor knows better than me. I’ve been given some medication so in sha Allah I’ll feel better in a few days and be ready to start university.
I’ve watched an entire season of Bondi Rescue today :S I’m still ill, my main problem is dizziness. Please keep me in your prayers. To people who have messaged me, I am gunna respond in sha Allah but when I go on my laptop so I can answer you privately. I’m not using it atm because it makes me feel ill.

zikrayat: Part of me is totally comfortable in a Muslim country because I am being taken care of, my needs are being met, there is no bigotry thrown against me for wearing a scarf, I’m part of the majority (covered women), I don’t have to worry about finding a place to pray or halal meat. But living in a…
Something that bugs me is Muslims joking about things being haram when they aren’t and even calling themselves and their friends it, “OMG you’re so haram!” Why would you want to label yourself as haram? How is that funny?

Anonymous asked: Hi hi 6 pounds in 3 days is not healthy are you sure you're eating properly? If you're eating properly but just, like, doing a lot of excericse/sports then thats ok but otherwise you're scaring me *hugs*
I’ve lost 6 pounds (2.7kgs) in 3 days o_O! But I started to get a small appetite back so in sha Allah that means I’m getting better. Al7amdolellah.

Getting out of bed to go to the bathroom and make wudu has become a mission itself. Sitting or standing pushes me to the point of being physically sick. Thank God that we can pray laying down. Please keep me in your prayers, we really do take our health for granted.
Please keep me in your prayers I’m really not feeling too good, I feel dizzy, wobbly and nauseous if I stand or sit so I have to stay lying down and I have no appetite. Al7amdolellah.
Sometimes situations can make you wonder if the ones that supposedly care about you really do. Everyone has their own interests at heart, what they’d like you to do, what they expect of you without thinking about what you would like. It’s so true that we are the harshest to our families and the ones we love but we shouldn’t be, we shouldn’t break down that barrier. We...
