Looking for a new translation of the Koran
This is the copy of the Koran I currently own:
Al7amdolellah I am grateful because it was a present given to me but I find the translation odd in places, some of the English words chosen are odd, words that me, a native speaker, does not know. Also there seem to be quite a few typos which makes me a bit wary of this copy. So I think I’m going to be on the look out for a new translation to...

Admitting that I have a problem
When I was a very new Muslim I would read articles and videos for my sake, so that I could improve myself and learn something, I also shared what I found in the hope that the information could help others as well. However in the last probably six months this attitude has changed. Whenever I read articles I think this would be good to share on my blog, this would be good to send to so and so, I...

Having a case of insomia
It’s 4.16am and I still haven’t been able to sleep, subhanAllah. This is the second time in the last three days that this has happened. According to Wikipedia, which might not be the most reliable of sources, insomnia is frequent in women during a certain period of their menstrual cycle, so I’m guessing it’s that. The sun is already rising by the way. At this rate what I...

University accommodation...please help!
So I’ve got to the ensuite vs shared bathroom debate and I’m not sure which to choose so if anybody could share their thoughts and/or experiences that would be really helpful!
In sha Allah I’ll be applying to share with girls only and people who have a halal diet so in sha Allah that’ll mean I’ll be sharing with some sisters. That should in theory mean that things...

Creepy bus man
So I just started catching the bus at a certain time everyday to go to work, I used to walk there from college, and there is always this guy that gets on at the same time but a couple of stops later. I say he is a “guy” but what I really mean is that he is an older man because he gets on using his free bus pass so that means he is 65+.
The first time I came across the man he got on...
sadaqallahul-azim:

It sucks when you’re surrounded by kafiroon living the haram life and they don’t get you or why you do the things you do. It sucks when those people are your family….and no matter how hard you try, you just feel so out of place around them. I can’t wait to move out.
i can relate to this!
Me too!

The end of a chapter in my life: finishing college
So I’ll start by saying that by college I don’t mean university, I know that college has different connotations in the USA to what it is in the UK.
Today was my last A-Level exam, general studies, it was the last time I will be in college, except for collecting exam results in August in sha Allah. It’s kind of bizarre, in one way the time seems to have passed really quickly but...

Euro 2012
Ok so the football is actually having a positive effect on my family, it’s uniting us. We are brought together because we are all supporting the same cause, so to speak.
It’s unusual because we normally like and dislike different things and there can often be big differences between me and the rest of my family seeing as I’m Muslim and they’re not, so it’s really...

A story about jummah prayer
A Muslim wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to Mosque every Friday.
“I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me I can’t remember a single one of them. So I think I’m wasting my time and the Imaam they are wasting theirs by giving...

Dubai
There’s this girl I used to be very close friends with, I even went on holiday with her and family a couple of times but as I became closer to Islam we’re gradually drifted apart. Anyway, at the moment she is on holiday in Dubai with her parents and I’m creeping all over her facebook status’. In my mind I’m thinking “You’re not taking advantage of the...

Muslimah on a Mission!: The word Haraam. →
salamseeker:
People use it so flippantly. People use it for jokes. People use it to describe their blogs. People say “haraam” like it’s something funny, outrageous, awesome. People say “haraam” in reference to themselves to make fun of others who try and give them religious advice. People look at…

Islamic eBooks
Ok so there is this site: http://www.kalamullah.com/ which mashAllah has tons of Islamic resources, including eBooks! You don’t have to register or anything, you just download and it’s all free!
I downloaded so many last night, I’m not generally a fan of eBooks because I dislike reading off the screen, however I thought I can print of the pages I want to read and save some...

solitarywithasnogbox asked: Sorry if this is too forward... I'm just curious about this marriage thing... Do you have a particular person in Egypt or do you just want to get married there? I'm going off 'anon', in case you don't want to publish an answer. I'm only asking because my mother is trying to persuade me to get married too... but it is hard to find someone outside of ''our...

I’m not gunna be fully happy until I sort my life out, get on a plane to Egypt and in sha Allah get married. And yet I’m not doing enough to secure that future.
My parents think that Egypt is “a dangerous place for Western women” so there was the plan for me to go once I am at uni, in sha Allah in September, and not living with my parents anymore but I don’t know if...

Anonymous asked: I was going to say I assume you're a revert... but you've aleady told me that in your description and URL. So there's nothing to assume, really. Sorry!

There’s actually three left but two are “General Studies” which won’t effect anything. Had English language today, didn’t like the paper but in sha Allah I did enough to secure my place, only French is left now!
In other news we’ve had a months worth of rain in six hours today, subhanAllah that’s so crazy.
