vthebookworm replied to your post: The ‘Royal Mail’ has just made me exceptionally angry
That’s terrible! There is no way around it since it was their error?
No :( I asked if they could either correct it on the form or send a letter with the application explaining what has happened but they said neither were possible and if they were to be done they wouldn’t be accepted by...

The 'Royal Mail' has just made me exceptionally...
I’ve been in the process of renewing my passport so that I can travel, I filled in all the parts I could, then I needed somebody to countersign both my application and photos, this took a bit of time as the person couldn’t just be anybody, they have to meet specific guidelines. Anyway this finally got done a few days ago and I was so happy that I’d finally sorted it out. Yesterday I...

Treating our prayers like appointments
When I had newly taken my shahadah I was either given a great piece of advice or I read it somewhere online, I’m unable to remember. That advice was to treat the five daily prayers as seperate appointments.
The wisdom behind this is to treat the start time of the prayer the same as you would do a rendez-vous with friends, a meeting with our boss, or a dentist appointment etc. We would aim...

Asalaam alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatu :)
I was using the money that my grandma gave me to buy abayas, and I asked my mom if I could use her credit card to buy them online. At first, she was opposed to the idea of me wearing an abaya, mostly because I showed her the butterfly style and she…

The Missing Ingredients: Compassion and Gentleness
I was attending the Friday prayer at a certain mosque once. In the back corner, I noticed two teenage girls sitting side by side, whispering and giggling throughout most of the khutbah (sermon). It was slightly distracting, but nobody made a fuss about it—except one older woman who was eyeing them with anger the entire time. As soon as the prayer ended, she marched toward them and towered over...

So I forgot to share this amazing magazine I found...
It’s called Gazelle and is targeted at the “North-African woman” and therefore has a lot of Islamic themes throughout. I was in France during August and therefore the magazine I bought was a special Ramadan edition.
It contained articles such as this one:
“Le Ramadan des converties” (A convert’s Ramadan)
I’m thinking about trying to get this...

Interesting comments on "Live at the Apollo"
Last night I was watching Live at the Apollo with my parents, which for those of you who are outside of the UK is a stand-up comedy programme which features 3 different comedians. One man that I had never heard of or seen before came on and discussed two very interesting topics:
The “war on terror”
Britain’s historic looting
Here is the link to the show:

Dear Reverts, →
allaahsavedus:
There will be events where your patience will be tested.
You will feel alone, worthless, frustrated, insignificant. The people who used to say “I love you” are now skeptical of who you are because you are a Muslim. The way you look at life is different now, and some will be jealous because you…

Ciò che leggo/What I'm reading
Io non ho paura (I’m not scared)
“L’estate più calda del secolo. Quattro case sperdute nel grano. I grandi sono tappati in casa. Sei bambini, sulle loro biciclette, si avventurano nella campagna rovente e abbandonata. In mezzo a quel mare di spighe c’è un segreto pauroso, un segreto che cambierà per sempre la vita di uno di loro.”
We’re reading this book in...

To My Future Husband:

“Your eyes I have not seen, your voice I have not heard, Yet you have me hanging on every word. Your lips I have not tasted, your embrace I have not felt, Yet I long for the day, when you make my heart melt. Be it days, weeks, months or years, The wait will be worth all the pain and tears.”
Honoring you in thought, word, and deed, Your Future Wife

Day 10
How have you changed since your conversion?
Well now I that I am praying al7amdolellah I work my day around the prayers, so that is different for me. I think my self discipline has improved, I’m more focused on trying to spend my time wisely and I’m conscious of avoiding things that are “ego-gratifying”!

Day 9
How has Islam affected your understanding of the world?
This is a tough question, well, Islam has taught me about the creation of the world and why we are here which is to be tested. I suppose it taught me my “purpose”, Islam has made everything seem clearer with regard to many things in this world for example the reasons why things happen, that being for a reason. Also with regard to...

Day 8
Do you have any regrets about your conversion?
No, none, al7amdolellah and I hope I never will inshAllah. When I said my shahadah I cried, it was the biggest relief and the feeling was amazing. Although times have been tough since becoming Muslim I do not regret my decision as I know I am being tested, I know Islam is the truth and it is the biggest blessing in my life, al7amdolellah.

Day 7
Do you prefer being called a revert or a convert?
A revert, I, just like everybody else, was born as a Muslim, I wasn’t raised as one but I have now reverted back to my original state, al7amdolellah. I don’t like “convert” as much.

Day 5
How did you tell your family that you converted?
After my mum pretty much finding out (to this day I don’t know how) and interrogating me about where I was on that day and time (when I took my shahadah) I wrote her a letter and left it on her pillow when I went out to work, she subsequently showed my dad. I’m not sure what they told my sister but she knows. The rest of my family, as...

You know I'm Muslim?!
Just over a week or so ago I was sat in my English talking about my then upcoming 18th birthday with a few girls I sit with. The girl next to me asked, “Will you be allowed to drink (alcohol)?” I was puzzled and evidently this must have appeared on my face so she then said, “because of your religion.” At that moment I felt :O how do you know?! Not that I was ashamed, just...

Day 4
What was the hardest thing about Islam to adjust to?
Al7amdolellah it wasn’t that difficult to adjust to as I had already adjusted most of my life prior to reverting. The hardest thing at the start was probably learning how to pray, somebody seriously needs to write a book that is written in really simple terms inshAllah! But with regard to that al7amdolellah a sister read the arabic over...
Day 3
How did you convert?
Surrounded by a group of sisters in a room that’s part of a mosque in a city about 20 minutes away from where I live.

Day 2
What was the main thing about Islam that convinced you to convert?
The fact that it just makes sense to me, after I read the Koran there was no turning back, I knew in my heart that it was the truth.
